Pet | Black Arts

Pet are undoubtedly, in our mind, the finest act to emerge from Scotland in recent years. How they have remained unsigned is beyond us after some very strong single releases. Our favourites of which have been the ambient gaze pop that is ‘What You Building?’ and the altogether darker affair ‘Wear Black’.

With ‘Black Arts’ the band continue to develop their sound. We hear the trademark element of wonderfully harmonised vocals combined with math guitar picks, crass electronics and the mixing of the track is outstanding.

Whatever comes next from Pet, we will be watching very closely and waiting expectantly for the next turn of brilliance.

Pet are a band from Edinburgh. They featured at our very first gig at the tail end of 2011. This track however is one of their latest…

‘Wear Black’ is the bands most recent single, however their next is due 2nd of July 2012 called ‘Together Apart’, and can be hear alongside 2 other new tracks here: http://petpetmusic.bandcamp.com/

With a sound that the band self describe as “Heavy Feather Pop”, they truly create songs of great depth and intrigue. Vocals are at the heart of everything they do with wonderful harmonies between singers Pete and Alexa. The atmosphere that this band create with their music really is something special and I am pleased to be able to confirm, the sound is even more magical when heard performed live.
